LOS RANCHOS AREA, San Luis Obispo County — October 29, 2026. Residents near the Green Gate Road and Highway 227 corridor have a county-approved events proposal to follow. San Luis Obispo County’s official environmental record for the Coglitore Minor Use Permit describes a venue program that could host as many as 90 temporary events per year on agricultural land at 430, 445 and 457 Green Gate Road, near Los Ranchos Elementary School.
What did the county decide?
The county’s Notice of Determination, received by the California State Clearinghouse on May 21, 2026, records an environmental approval dated March 26, 2026. It concerns the minor use permit application N-DRC2025-00024 and associated mitigated negative declaration. The project is described as a phased program for temporary indoor and outdoor events, with a requested permit period of 25 years.
How many people could attend?
The project description divides the proposed 90 annual events into three categories: up to 30 events with 250 attendees, up to 30 with 200 attendees, and up to 30 with 150 attendees. These figures are caps described in the permit request, not attendance totals or evidence that 90 events have already taken place.
What will change on Green Gate Road?
According to the project filing, outdoor events would be included in the initial phase, with indoor and additional outdoor uses in a later phase. Amplified music and speech are proposed in designated areas. The application also includes road and internal access improvements intended to satisfy CAL FIRE and County Fire access requirements. Because the land is agricultural, the public record evaluates issues including noise, traffic, wildfire, biological resources and land use.
What does approval not prove?
An environmental determination does not independently certify that access improvements were built, that every operating permit condition has been completed, or that events are currently being held. Before assuming a specific noise limit, operating time or parking arrangement, neighbors should examine the actual final permit conditions. The state listing does not substitute for an active events calendar.
Where residents can check the record
County planner Blake Maule is listed at (805) 781-4163. Residents can request the permit conditions and ask how traffic management, emergency access, event-hour restrictions and future code enforcement are being handled.
